  5. System Requirements

  17. Installation
  18. ============
  19. Universal Tacacs+ Server Ver 2.01 is distributed as a ZIP file
  20. "TACACS21.ZIP". To install, unzip it using PKUNZIP or other
  21. unzipping software to a temporary directory, such as "c:\temp". 
  22. Then start Windows and run the SETUP.EXE program in the 
  23. temporary directory.

  25. Note : The setup.exe program will ask you for a directory to
  26. install Universal Tacacs+ Server. You must install Universal
  27. Tacacs+ Server into a different directory from the temporary
  28. directory in which you unzipped the files. For example, if you
  29. unzip the files into the directory "c:\abcd", you must
  30. install Universal Tacacs+ Server into a different directory.

  32. After you have installed the program and run it, it will ask for 
  33. a user name and password. For the first time, login as
  34. "SuperManager" with no passowrd.
  35.  
  36. Difference between Ver 2.01 and Ver 2.0
  37. =======================================
  38. Comparing to Universal Tacacs+ Server Ver 2.0, Universal Tacacs+
  39. Server Ver 2.01 supports some non-English versions of Windows, 
  40. such as some European versions of Windows and Chinese Windows.
  41. Other than that, there is no significant difference between
  42. Ver 2.01 and Ver 2.0.

  44. Upgrading from Universal XTACACS Server Ver 1.x
  45. ===============================================
  46. If you are using Universal XTACACS Server Ver 1.x, Universal 
  47. Tacacs+ Server Ver 2.01 installation will not overwrite any 
  48. Ver 1.x files, so after installation you will have both
  49. Universal XTACACS Server Ver 1.x and Universal Tacacs+ Server 
  50. Ver 2.01 in your system. This allows you to test Ver 2.01 first
  51. without deleting your existing Ver 1.x system.

  53. At any time, you can only run either Ver 1.x or Ver 2.01, but
  54. not both. 
  55.  
  56. You may convert Ver 1.x user database to Universal Tacacs+ 
  57. Server format by running the Ver 1.x to Ver 2.01 conversion 
  58. program "CONVERT.EXE" included in the distribution files. The
  59. conversion program will keep the Ver 1.x user database intact,
  60. so you can revert to Ver 1.x if you like.

  62. Note that you must use the Ver 2.x Accountant for Ver 2.x log
  63. files, and Ver 1.x Accountant for Ver 1.x log files. It is not
  64. recommended to use the same log file for Ver 1.x and Ver 2.x.

  66. After you are satisfied with Ver 2.01, you may delete Ver 1.x
  67. from your system by simply deleting the XTACACS directory.

  69. Documentation
  70. =============
  71. Full product documentation is available as on-line context
  72. sensitive help and also in the file "TACACS.WRI". On-line
  73. context sensitive help is available any time Universal Tacacs+
  74. Server is running by pressing the F1 key.

  76. Before you use Universal Tacacs+ Server, you must read the
  77. and agree to the license agreement in the file "license.txt".

  79. To register the software, please refer to the file 
  80. "register.txt".

  82. Registration Encouragement Features
  83. ===================================
  84. Non-registered version of Universal Tacacs+ Server software
  85. is distributed as shareware.  It is not free of charege.  You
  86. may to use this software for evaluation purposes without charge
  87. for a period of 30 days.  If you use this software after the
  88. 30-day evaluation period, you must register for a license to
  89. use the software by filling in the registration form and pay
  90. the required registration fee to Universal Networks.  Please
  91. refer to "register.txt" for detail registration procedures and
  92. pricing information.

  94. In terms of functionality, the non-registered version has all
  95. the functions of the registered version.  The non-registered
  96. version, however, has a reminder window which will pop up
  97. every 24 hours within the 30-day evaluation period to remind
  98. you to register.
  99.  
  100. After the 30-day period, if you continue to use the software
  101. without registration, the reminder window will pop up every
  102. 2 hours.  In addition, after the 30-day period, the reminder
  103. window will temporarily disabled Universal Tacacs+ Server
  104. every time it pops up until you press the "I Agree" button,
  105. so that you cannot run the server unattended.

  107. The reminder screen will go away forever once you register the
  108. software.
  109.  
  110. Technical Support
  111. =================
  112. Free 1 year technical support will be offered to registered
  113. users.  Please contact Universal Networks directly for
  114. technical support.  Because of time zone differences, the
  115. recommended method of contact is by E-mail or by fax.

  117. New Version Upgrade Policy
  118. ==========================
  119. Universal Networks has the policy that any registered user
  120. is entitled to upgraded versions of the same software free
  121. of charge within the 1 year free technical support period.
  122. Thereafter, upgraded versions will be offered to registered
  123. users at special discounts.

  125. UpComing Features
  126. =================
  127. The followings are new features planned to be included in
  128. future releases of Universal Tacacs+ Server.  Universal
  129. Networks make no guarantee that such features will ever be
  130. implemented.  Universal Networks reserves the right of not
  131. to implement these features.  Universal Networks may change
  132. the planned features at any time without prior notice.
